2D imaging module

Keyboard shortcuts

Romexis 6.4.8 introduces keyboard shortcuts for the most common functionalities in the 2D module. This will be a great help, especially for users who work extensively with intraoral images.
The shortcuts are available for you and your customers in the Planmeca Material Bank.

New measurement symbol for non-calibrated images

In case an image has not been calibrated, a tilde (wave dash) is
shown in the front of the measurement

3D imaging module

New way to rotate cross-sectional slices

The cross-sectional slices can now be easily rotated with a right-click and drag on the panoramic image

New dialog for fitting 2D or 3D photo onto a CBCT image

Romexis 6.4.8 introduces a new tool for wrapping a 2D photo onto a CBCT image to create a 3D photo. This can be done easily by selecting similar anatomical landmarks in the 2D photo and in the soft tissues of a CBCT, after which the software does the wrapping.

Please note that the volume size of the CBCT must be big enough to cover soft tissue.

The same tool can be used for fitting a 3D photo (captured with Planmeca ProFace® or a 3rd party system) with the CBCT. With 3D photos, users only need to give a minimum of 3 points in both data sets to allow Romexis to fit them together.

New option to zoom measurement labels

A new option allows users to zoom measurement labels while zooming an image. This feature can be enabled in Romexis settings, giving users the choice to zoom the measurement labels simultaneously with the image.

CMF surgery module

Romexis 6.4.8 introduces soft tissue simulation, a new tool for simulating the changes in soft tissue caused by virtual jaw movements. This tool is meant for communication purposes to aid in discussions about higher level changes to the soft tissue. The result of the simulation is highly indicative and cannot be used as a basis for treatment planning or as truthful prediction of the surgery results.

3D cephalometry module

Planmeca ProFace® images can now also be viewed in the Romexis® 3D Cephalometry module.

Smile design module

New smile simulation using teeth photos

The Romexis 6.4.8 release introduces a new tool for the Romexis® Smile Design module, which allows creating quick smile simulations by using a photo of the patient’s teeth, a stock teeth photo, or, for example, a snapshot of the clear aligner treatment simulation of Romexis® Ortho Simulator. This feature is especially useful for motivating patients and particularly beneficial in cases involving edentulous patients.

CAD/CAM module

Changes in the Scan tab

Romexis 6.4.8 introduces a new automatic alignment tool, which can be used for approximately 70% of cases, including buccalless alignments. For cases with a more complex bite, such as crossbite, overjet etc., using the standard bite alignment is recommended.

More comprehensive PLY import

The new release supports more comprehensive case imports in PLY format. PLY models can be imported on the Scan tab through the right-click menu.

Changes in the Margin tab

The orientation is now even easier through new visualisation screens, which makes the alignment of the orientation easy and visually understandable.

Changes in the Design tab

More automated crown design with autogenesis

omexis 6.4.8. introduces a more automated crown design with autogenesis, which analyses the surrounding teeth and scales the initial crown design accordingly. Autogenesis automatically detects and evaluates cusp alignment, marginal ridges, and the anatomical morphology of the surrounding teeth, including their height, size, interproximal areas, and occlusal contacts.

New tool for crown mirroring
The automatic segmentation of the teeth allows users to copy a tooth or select a library tooth for the crown design. Users can also use a pre-op scan to copy a tooth for the design. A new tool for mirroring an anatomy from the other side of the arch has now been added to simply crown design even more.

Previews for library teeth
The tooth libraries now include 3D previews for the library teeth for easier visualisation of morphology.

Simplified top-down design workflow
The design workflow has been improved and simplified. The module no longer distinguishes between a guided workflow and advanced mode. All necessary steps for completing a restoration design are clearly visible in the right-hand menu, in the top-down order they must be completed.

Enhanced tool icons
All tools are easily recognisable thanks to intuitive icons that align with the look and feel of other modules.

Improved scuplting tool

The sculpting tool behaviour for secondary and tertiary anatomy creation has been updated. It now features a Dropper tool with an even narrower tip, enabling users to remove or add material to a very small area of influence to create and fine-tune aesthetic details, such as grooves.

New design for Combo tool
The release introduces a more user-friendly design of the Combo tool for moving, rotating and adjusting the size of the restoration. The size can be adjusted by clicking and dragging the box icon, while clicking and dragging the arrows moves the restoration.

Improved Object Browser
The Object Browser in the right-hand menu now shows all aligned layers for easy selection.

Changes in the Mill tab

It is now possible to use Anonymize Patient option for sending cases to the mill in accordance with GDPR. If the option is selected, no patient data including name will not be shown on the milling unit.

Changes in the Analyse tab

New comparison tools

Romexis 6.4.8 comes with several improvements for comparing scans taken at different time points. Users can now paint areas on both scans, and Romexis will superimpose the models based on these areas. Romexis also allows users to measure point-to-point distances on the superimposed models and view changes in the deviation map.

Improved label visualisation

The measurement label visualisation has been improved. The scan visualisation has also been adjusted to align more closely with the Scan module.

Changes in the Send tab

Improved export for all files

It is now possible to export all files for a case simultaneously, including the digital models and the lab order form.

New option for custom launch buttons

A new option has been added to the CAD/CAM module for creating a generic launch button to launch cases into 3rd party software directly from Romexis. With the button, selected scans are automatically exported from Romexis and imported to 3rd party software in question. The configuration is done in the Admin module.

Integrations with 3rd party software

Improvements in Second Opinion integration

Following Romexis release 6.4.8, the Second Opinion® service status (sent, received, number of retries, error received) is shown in the Image properties dialog box. This streamlines the use of the service and is very useful in troubleshooting cases.
In addition, if Romexis detects connectivity errors, such as network issues, Romexis will automatically try to resend the image. These retries will be performed at progressive incremental intervals up to 4 times (next business day).

Launch button for 3D DiagnostiX integration

3D Diagnostix (3DDX) is a US-based service provider offering services such as radiology reports, aligners, and restorations. Romexis 6.4.8 introduces a new option to setup a launch button from Romexis to 3DDX Connect Plus application, which will connect directly to 3DDX order portal. The option is available in 2D, 3D and CAD/CAM module
and can be set up in the Admin module.
